Red light therapy was first utilized in the medical field to accelerate wound healing, but numerous studies have shown that it can relieve pain, decrease inflammation, reduce redness, lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve elasticity and even out the skin tone. Red light and near infrared light therapy work through a process called photobiomodulation. Whereby a photon (packet of energy) of red light or near infrared light interacts with a cell causing a chemical change that alters how the cell functions. Depending on the cell that the photon interacts with, the cell may proliferate better, it may induce a reparative change in damaged tissue, or it may just function better and produce more proteins such as collagen and elastin.

We are all aware that light can affect skin, as dermatologists have recommended to limit ultraviolet (UV) light exposure because we know that UV light can cause negative effects on the skin by damaging cellular DNA and break down structural proteins (collagen and elastin) that support the skin. However, red light and near infrared light have positive or rejuvenating effects on the skin. Not all wavelengths of red or near infrared light are the same. Studies have shown that red light at 633 nm wavelength and near infrared light at 830 nm wavelength are the two most effective wavelengths to stimulate the skin.

This hand-held device combines both red light (633 nm) and near infrared light (830 nm) and delivers it to the skin with a sequential pulsed mode and duration to stimulate your skin’s cellular energy. This Class II at-home device is FDA cleared to reduce the appearance of periorbital wrinkles and boost collagen.

Despite being cleared for treatment of wrinkles around the eyes, given the convenient design of this device, the treatment areas are endless. Consider also treating the neck or chest, or maybe the back of the hands or the skin on the forearms. How about the scalp? Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles to puncture the skin creating very superficial micro-injuries to the outermost layers of the skin. This induces the production of new collagen and elastin during the healing process and is why microneedling is referred to as a “collagen induction therapy”. Microneedling is used to treat acne scars, dark spots, large pores, melasma, sagging skin, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles, under eye pigmentation and uneven skin tone and texture. The result is smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin. This treatment is safe for all skin types and can be performed anywhere on the body. Between 3 and 6 treatments are required for best results and additional treatments may be required for more severe scars and stretch marks. Microneedling is recommended 1-2 times per year to maintain the anti-aging benefit.

This bio stimulating treatment utilizes hydrogen peroxide, 33% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and kojic acid to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. The treatment also improves skin complexion by evening out the skin tone and texture.
