The providers at Central Minnesota Dermatology are very excited to offer a full complement of treatment options to help you love your skin again. Our services range from more aggressive technology-based treatments that include CO2 laser, microneedling, IPL, radiofrequency energy for skin remodeling, laser hair reduction and body sculpting to cosmetic injectables that address fine lines and volume concerns, to less invasive treatments such as chemical peels and dermaplaning. We provide treatment options for men and women of all ages and skin types. Whether you have unwanted hair, bothersome discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, large pores or wish to improve the tone and texture of your skin, we have the treatment for you. Oftentimes, a multi-pronged approach is needed to achieve your desired outcome. During your consultation, our providers will explain the benefits of every option, recommend a treatment plan, and while being mindful of cost and expected downtime, help you determine how to best achieve your desired results. We tend to treat conservatively and don’t judge or push extreme and unnecessary treatments. Our goal is to provide services that will enhance your natural beauty. We also want to make these services available to as many people as possible and with that in mind, we are now offering memberships. Please visit our membership page to learn about how your monthly payments are banked toward treatments of your choice and the significant members-only savings.

The Alma Hybrid device combines CO2 and 1570 nm lasers to provide a wide range of ablative, non-ablative, and thermal treatments. This combination allows for not only less pain and downtime than traditional CO2 lasers, but also the flexibility to customize the treatment to the patient’s skin type, length of downtime, and desired outcome. The Hybrid laser is FDA-approved for skin rejuvenation, including wrinkles, skin laxity and photodamage but it can also be used to treat scarring and rhinophyma.
The InMode EVOLVEX Transform device provides an innovative, hands-free solution that simultaneously remodels the skin, shrinks fat, and tones muscle in the treatment area. Transform utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy for deep heating of tissue and fat, and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to induce forced muscle contractions that are not achievable during workouts. This combination of technologies delivers a no downtime alternative for sculpting and refining your body in the comfort of our office.
As we age, changes in our appearance become more pronounced and we no longer see the youthfulness we remember when we look in the mirror. You may have noticed lines on your forehead, between your eyebrows, or around the outside of your eyes. Perhaps you have lines that linger after you smile or around your mouth. Possibly your cheeks look a little gaunt or your lips could use more volume. Much to our frustration, these changes occur naturally over time. Lines and wrinkles form after years of repetitive facial muscle actions such as laughing, smiling, and squinting. Loss of volume in your face occurs as the collagen our body produced in our youth diminishes over time. Damage caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment may also contribute to the formation of lines on your face. Central Minnesota Dermatology offers neurotoxin and dermal filler injections that can help minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and volume loss, restoring a more youthful appearance.
Chemical peels are typically used for facial resurfacing but can also be used for the treatment of acne. Chemical peels are grouped by their depth of penetration and subsequent removal of the skin. A light peel removes the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis), provides subtle improvement over time, and they are often done in a series. Light peels are often referred to as “lunchtime” peels as there is little or no downtime. A medium-depth chemical peel removes the outermost layer or the skin (epidermis) and the upper part of your middle layer of skin (dermis). Downtime from this type of peel is a few days to a week. A deep chemical peel penetrates down to the lower part of the middle layer of the skin (dermis). A deep chemical peel is a one-time only treatment with significant downtime of often 14-21 days and is performed under general anesthesia. Chemical peels are typically performed on the face but can also be used on the neck and back of the hands.
During a chemical peel, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which causes injury and stimulates the healing process of our skin to produce new collagen and elastin resulting in skin rejuvenation and giving a more youthful appearance. Chemical solutions typically used include glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, lactic acid and/or carbolic acid (phenol). The choice of chemical solution or combination of chemical solutions will provide different results. Chemical peels can be used to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, photodamage, dull complexion, scarring, melasma, acne and actinic keratoses (precancerous lesions). Typical side effects of chemical peels include redness, dryness, peeling, and a burning sensation. Post-inflammatory pigment changes, infection and scarring are possible, especially with deep chemical peels. Patients with darker skin types (IV – VI) are at higher risk of skin discoloration.
At Central Minnesota Dermatology, we offer PRX Derm Perfextion treatments. These treatments provide the same results as chemical peels but without the side effects and downtime associated with traditional chemical peels. This bio stimulating treatment utilizes hydrogen peroxide, 33% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and kojic acid to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. The treatment also improves skin complexion by evening out the skin tone and texture. PRX treatments can be used anywhere on the body either as a standalone treatment or in combination with other treatments.
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive skin resurfacing procedure that utilizes a scalpel or razor to remove the top layers of the skin. Dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It is also used to remove actinic keratoses (precancerous lesions), dull or dry skin, and fine hairs (peach fuzz). The procedure is typically painless, but you may feel a scratching or stinging sensation. The skin can be red, swollen and slightly tender after the procedure. A post-procedure balm will be applied after the dermaplaning. Over-the-counter pain relievers can be used if needed. A full-face treatment typically takes about 40 minutes.
We do not offer refunds on services rendered. Results for aesthetic services can vary significantly from person to person. We will do our best to achieve your desired result, but outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
